preparing to Climb Snowdon for Charity in June 2010

Climbing the Cader Idris horseshoe ridge, April 2010
Back in the earlier part of the year, I signed up to climb Snowdon to raise money for the National Autistic Society. I have previously climbed Snowdon twice before, once with my father when I was 16 and then later with my long term school friend, Bruce when we had a holiday together in North Wales in our teens. On both occasions I had a clear day for my visit to the summit.
It is still not too late to sponsor me. you can go to the following site
http://www.virginmoneygiving.com

and then enter my name Clive Ward to add your sponsorship omn line to help the work of the National Autistic Society!

Here now in 2010 I am not so very fit so i decided to climb Cader Idris, a mountain I has first tried to conquer on a family holiday from Barmouth when I was about 13. Heavy mist stopped us reaching the summit.
In more recent times I had visited the area and organised a Green Gym event in the area with a work colleague, Rob Allum. At the time we had agreed to the challenge of climbing Cader Idris in the future!

We were able to join the Waynefield Keep Fit Group from Brackley, Northants, a mens group who Rob had links with and were planning a weekend to climb Cader on mid April

at the start
and well up with much less clothing as the weather was perfect and thanks to an Icelantic Volcano we had no planes passing above us either!

Our return walk completing a circular route ended a perfect day. I just hope my forthcoming walk up Snowdon will be so successful and enjoyable.

I would just like to thank members of this Oxfordshire Group for making us so welcome and for their generous sponsoring of me for my Snowdon Challenge!
