The proceedings for the day started with the community laying flowers on what I imagine is the War Memorial to the war dead from the civil war in 1993, with Tranestria the breakaway republic which is very close by here, where I go next week.
Otherwise you had your standard celebration for a local community with traditional dancers of the area, singers of all kinds the speeches and all that one would expect to see!
Cock and Sheep Story
I then went and was surprised to see wrestling going on between youth.
It was entertaining.
I also saw waht I thought were the ussual animals been put out to graze, including two cockrel and a sheep!
However I was quite taken aback when the cockrell were given as prizes to the winning wrestlers!
This will be my lasting memory of the day - as recorded below using both Gouache and Oil pastel!!

I had to leave before the older guys completed their fighting - but I guess they were to win the Sheep!
I had been wondering if maybe I should have been in Chisinau for the Natinal celebrations but I dont think I would have experienced anything like this there!
Supper: Stuffed peppers and vodka with Boris!
There is a concert in town tonight!
